Health hazard information
SWALLOWED: Ingestion of a large quantity of copper sulphate has caused vomiting, gastric pain, dizziness, exhaustion, anaemia, cramps, convulsions, shock, coma and death.
EYES: Liquid and mists may severely irritate or damage the eyes.
SKIN: Contact with the dust or solutions may irritate the skin.
INHALED: Breathing dust or mists may irritate the nose, throat and mucous membranes of the respiratory tract and cause coughing and chest discomfort.
CHRONIC: None Known
First aid measures:
SWALLOWED: If swallowed and if more than 15 minutes from a hospital induce vomiting. Do not give anything by mouth to an unconscious or convulsing person.
EYE: Immediately flush eyes with running water for 15 minutes, lifting the upper and lower eyelids occasionally. Get immediate medical attention.
SKIN: Immediately flush skin with running water for 15 minutes. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes; wash before re-use. Get immediate medical attention if symptoms persist.
INHALED: Remove to fresh air. Give artificial respiration if not breathing. Get immediate medical attention if symptoms persist.
Product is not flammable. Use extinguishing media appropriate for surrounding fire.
Special exposure hazard : can produce toxic gas.
Special protective equipment for fire fighters : fire fighters should wear protective equipment and self-contained ( positive pressure if available) breathing apparatus with full face piece.
Accidental release measures
Personal precaution ; Protect adequately all the body parts. The air passage must be protected
( suitable filter mask ) if the material is in “snow” micro crystals dust form.
Environmental precautions ; avoid the possibility that significant quantity of product
has entered water courses or sewer; if this should happen advise immediately the
local competent authority.
Methods for cleaning up: with a clean shovel put into another clean and dry container,
close and remove it from the area. Do not clean contaminated area with water.
